Joint Crisis Committee

The Joint Crisis Committees:
JCC 1: Japanese Cabinet
JCC 2: Chinese Cabinet

Freeze Date: 7th July, 1937

About the committee: One of the most interesting, difficult, and gratifying Model UN experiences is the Joint Crisis Committee (JCC). Every instruction, delegation, and decision has an impact on not just one, but two committee environments.

JCC is made up of separately operating subcommittees whose choices and actions directly affect the ongoing situation, making it a unique experience.

About the agenda:

Second Sino-Japanese war

The Second Sino-Japanese War was a conflict between China and Japan between 1937-45. Following an incident on the Marco Polo Bridge in Wanping, close to Beijing, a full-scale war between China and Japan broke out in July, of the same year.

The Nationalists and CCP had been in a tenuous alliance known as the Second United Front for seven months when the Japanese began a full-scale invasion of China in late July.

The Nationalist troops made an effort to repel the invasion, but they were swiftly routed by the Japanese army's superior technology and readiness. China's weak industries were unable to deliver engineering or ammunition in a timely and adequate manner. The Chinese military, in contrast to the Japanese, had only a few planes and no tanks.
